Belgian Shorthaired Pointer

This strong, clean-cut pointer from Belgium was known during the last century and was probably most closely related to the French braques. The 1960 edition of the official booklet of Belgian breeds listed him as very rare.

More recently, the FCI has listed the breed "in suspension," and a letter from the Societe Royale Saint Hubert (Belgian KG), dated 11/9/84, says he has "completely disappeared." This indicates no registrations have occurred for many years, and the Belgian Shorthaired Pointer may be extinct.
