BRACCO ITALIANO

The Italian Pointer is very old and houndlike, and, in fact, may be one of the earliest gun dog types. He has long, folded ears and a slight stop, with a nearly convex muzzle similar to that of the Segugio, and is most likely a descendent or from the same common progenitor. His body, however, is similar to other pointers. His tail is docked to about half its length. Although not known outside of Italy, he is admired at home as an all-purpose gun dog. He is tranquil, docile, obedient and loyal, making a fine family and house dog that doubles as a hunting companion.
