Apparently, from Japan, they were introduced in Spain in relatively modern times, where they nowadays became the prototype of the well-known races. These dogs arrived at England from the first third of century XVI.

The two races are the King Charles spaniel and the King Horseman Charles spaniel. The King Charles, normally of black and brown color, was called thus by king Carlos II of England, that had dogs of this race like its favourite mascots. The King Horseman Charles, originated like spaniel white and brown reddish, was called Blenheim, name that Churchill took from the familiar bench of John, first Duke of Marlborough, who was the one who initiated the young of this dog at the beginning of the century XVIII and whose family, later, dedicated itself to develop the race.

Nowadays also black and brown horsemen, color ruby and tricolors are clear. The King Charles can be tricolor, color ruby or of the same color that the Blenheim. Both races have a head in the form of cupola, separated and dark eyes, short snout and long, smooth hair and wave. The King Horseman Charles weighs between 8 and 9 kg and measures 34 cm to the cross, the King Charles is a little smaller.
