The “Entlebucher” is smallest of the four types of mountain dogs and Swiss cowherds.
He is original of Entlebuch, a valley that is in the districts of Luzerna and Bern. The first description under the name of “Entlibucherhund” dates from 1889.
In spite of it, during much later, these dogs were not different themselves from the Appenzeller. In year 1913 they were shown, in the canine exhibition of Langenthal, four of these small units of the short tail to Professor Heim, great promoter of the mountain races and Swiss cowherds.
With base in the reports of the judges, these dogs were seated in Libro of Origins Swiss of SKG (LOS) like the fourth race of mountain dogs and Swiss cowherds.
The first standard was written up until 1927.
The race promoted and raised after the foundation of the Club of Dogs Cowherds of Entlebuch, on the initiative of Dr. B. Kobler. As they demonstrate the little registries to it in, the race went away very slowly developing.
It received a new impulse when their great abilities like utility dog were discovered to him, characterizing it in the standard to side of his aptitude of vivacious, untiring dog in the work of transport of cattle like dog of excellent utility.
