EPAGNEUL FRANCAIS

The French Spaniel is a cousin to the Small Munsterlander and the Drentse Patrijshond setter type. The breed is quite old and, while boasting a long history in France, is unknown elsewhere. Fine pointing and retrieving dogs, they show a passion for their work.
They have a strong head that, in recent years, has shown some exaggerated flew and dewlap. As little ticking as possible is desired, with any tan marks disqualifying. The tail is left long, as with the setters. Personalities are—like so many of these breeds—docile, intelligent and trainable.
