Findo

Findo

Many a people across the world have not heard of there being a dog breed named Findo. There isn’t much info on them in and around Iran either, since these dogs are said to have originated in the country of Iran. These dogs happen to be very rare, even if you were to walk up to someone with a picture of a Findo in most of the Iranian streets, people only fail to recognize them. Findos have a medium sized coat. These dogs mostly occur in a white colored coat, with the occasional ones occurring in a coat made up if two colors. The two colored coats are visible along their ears and tails.

These dogs are also called as the Iranian Tazis, but it’s the people of Kurdistan of in the country of Iran who call these dogs as Findos. Findos are also called as "Tuleh Farangi", which means for Foreign Puppy in native Iranian. They are said to have bought into Iran from England back in the 16 to 18th century. Only particular families end up breeding Findos in the Kurdistan. There also happens to be 2 different varieties of Findos, One called the Long Coated and the other called the Smooth breed. Both these types are of the same size, build and characteristics, but the Large Coated breed resembles more of a Miniature Spitz. Both the type of Findos occurs in the same small size, almost the same size of a Terrier dog.

These are said to have been in existence around Iran for about 400 years, which is why you can see little miniature wood carved statues of these dogs which were carved around the 16 to 18th century too. Findo are a very rare breed these days and they aren’t seen in many households, only very a few families breed them and this is the reason they are only found in the Western province of Iran.
