Great Pyrenees dog

The Great Pyrenees dog was first seen in Spain in France. This breed of dog is originally a mountain dog that was bred as a work dog. These dogs are a fairly large breed and are quite widely present in the United States. The Pyrenees is a very old shepherd dog that was seen in the mountain of France and Spain. These dogs make very loyal companions and are wonderful shepherding dogs. They are quite protective and will watch closely over the cattle warding off any unknown strangers or animals. They have a loud gruff bark that will scare away any unwanted people and keep the cattle safe. These dogs are more than happy remaining outdoors and running in the fields.
The full grown Pyrenees dog is very large and muscular once fully grown. The have well defined bodies with a large bear like appearance. These dogs have a two layered coat. The outer coat is long and coarse with mildly wavy or perfectly straight hair that is very fine. The under coat of the dog comprises of thick yet soft fur. They have very weather resistant coats that allow them to remain outdoors 90% of the time. They are capable of staying out even in very harsh weather. Their coats are seen in white with tan patches, wolf grey, solid white and pale yellow. The nose is still black with dark brown eyes. Their eyes are shaped like almonds and have an intelligent, thoughtful expression.
This dog is somewhat rectangular in its proportions. They are longer than they are tall with a leveled topline. The chest is broad and deep seated. They have heads in a wedge shape with rounded skulls and no evident stop. The ears are pendant shaped and triangular. They have a pointed and wide muzzle. The teeth of this dog usually meet in a scissor bite although a level bite is acceptable. The tail of the Pyrenees is curved, feathered and plume shaped. The tail is long enough to reach the Hocks of the dog. Their front legs have single dewclaws and they have double dewclaws on their hind legs.
The Great Pyrenees is an imposing and capable dog. These dogs are very devoted to their families and are always wary of strangers. This quality makes them pretty decent watch dogs. They are very protective of their families and livestock that they are set to guard. These dogs are self sacrificing and will give their life for their owners. These dogs need to be well socialized as puppies for them to get along well with everyone. They are very friendly with non canine animals and are known to be cat lovers. These dogs are great droolers and have a tendency to slobber. They need a good amount of training with a firm handler. They are 69-74cms tall and weigh 38- 43 kgs. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years. They need a good amount of exercise and love from their family.
