But they are very affectionate once they get to know the person they are living with. They need to be socialized at a very early age. They can be easily trained and get attached to the dog owner. The temperament of the dog breed varies with every dog. It depends on how the dog is trained when they are puppies. They can be easily maintained. Daily exercises should be maintained as the dog likes to go for long walks. But when they trained for too long they tend to get bored.
They have very good senses especially a good nose and a good voice. They are very athletic and can be used for hunting. They are very alert. Examples of the Griffon Bleu de Gascogne have been exported to other countries, where they are promoted as a rare breed for those seeking a unique pet. This breed was lost for a few decades since they did not experience popularity but now they are experiencing revival. They are better known than before and are being taken to different countries now. They love hunting foxes and are good at what they do. They don’t tire easily though they don’t have a lot of energy to keep running around.
The Griffon Bleu de Gascognes run at a moderate speeds, but they manage to have good amounts of endurance. The scenting ability on these breeds is very remarkable. They are usually a little reserved around strangers, but they are great with children and other house pets. It is very advisable not to trim the coat on these dogs as the unkempt look was one of the highlights of their ancestry. Health can be maintained on this breed by feeding them right and well.
