They have been compared to wolves and have some association with the wolf family. Their style of hunting is very similar to the Wolf and thus experts have compared them to the wolf family. The Indian Spitz will crouch low and slowly advance towards their prey, finally ending in a chase if necessary. This breed has seen a steady decline in its popularity in recent year. This decline is due to their immense similarity to Pomeranians that are now being preferred over the Spitz.

The Indian Spitz is quite a small dog. These dogs have short limbs but a well defined body. They have a straight top line with a somewhat elongated muzzle. This breed has small triangular ears that are held high on the head. Their ears do not have a floppy quality and are always pricked up. They are not are furry or fluffy as the Pomeranian but do have quite a dense and coarse outer coat. These dogs are usually seen in a black or brown solid colored coat. Their most common color is white. They can have some patches in either fawn or brown on their white coats.
