The Japanese Chin also called Japanese Spaniel or simply Chin, has its remote ancestors in China and was introduced to Japan as a gift of the Korean sovereigns to the Japanese court in year 732 and the following one hundred years entered many more. These dogs were considered like a respect symbol, reason why it was common to ofrendar them to the governors and members of the nobility. In the reign of the Shogunate Tsunayoshi Tokugawa (1680-1709) the race grew up like a dog of toy in house in the Castle of Edo. In 1613, a Briton, Captain Sear, took a Chin to them to England, and in 1853 Commodore Perry took several to the United States, of which two were flattered to Reina Victory of England. The first Chin appeared in exhibition made a British it in 1862 and, about 20 years later, it began to be exhibited in the USA.

It is a dog of small stature with a wide head, cover of abundant hair, has an elegant aspect. The height to the cross is equal to the length of the body. The Chin shows an elegant, slight and proud movement. Its temperament is sweet and charming. Agile, it cheers, pĂ­caro and very intelligent.
