There is a lot of wisdom behind the saying ‘A dog is a man’s best friend’. For centuries men and dogs have lived in harmony. Dogs had been domesticated very early in time. They have been used for a lot of purposes. Dogs in the recent years have been used mostly as house pets and as guards. Dogs are ideal companions. They have very good qualities such as loyalty, playfulness and energy. Dogs were used for hunting long ago. Many famous breeds that are kept at home today have a hunting history. They can be taught to be agile, fast and aggressive.
One of the most popular breeds of today is the Vizsla. This is a breed from Hungary. They are descendants of the pointer-retriever breeds. The Vizsla breed is very distinctive in their appearance. The dogs can also be trained very easily. The Vizsla breed has been trained to hunt along with their masters and have a very keen eye and sense of their surroundings. These traits are very important in their role as guard dogs and family pets.
The appearance of the dog is very characteristic. The average Vizsla dog grows to a height of about 20 to 25 inches for a male and about 24 inches for a female. They weigh about 20 to 30 kgs for a male and 18 to 25 kgs for a female. They are a hunting breed and hence have a very distinguished set of physical characters. They are built light and strong. The Vizsla breed is much smaller and has a more defined muscularature. The nose of the Vizsla is the almost the same colour as that of the coat and that is red. The eyes and the ears are also of almost the same colour and blend in well.
The coat colour of the Vizsla breed is a distinctive one. The standard colour is golden rust. The colour is very distinctive and easily recognisable. They come in different shades of this colour. These dogs are very energetic and ready for fun at any time. They are also very affectionate and form bonds very quickly with their owners.
