Dogs are ideal companions. There are many breeds of dogs that are kept as pets. They become part of the family. The various types of breeds available make it easy for us to choose. Some dogs are suited for an indoor lifestyle. Some are better off outside. There are some breeds which are comfortable both inside and outside. These are the more popular ones. Some types of dogs are kept on ranches. These are work dogs and are not actually pets. They assist their owners in the daily activities. Some breeds are used as sled dogs and live in inhospitable conditions. They fare better than most humans would in those conditions.

Some of the most popular breeds are the hunting dogs. These were bred particularly for their power, stamina and speed. These dogs were part of hunting expeditions and would go in and flush out the game so that their masters could kill them. They were also thought to retrieve the game. These traits are much sought after today. One of the rare types of hunting dogs is the Hungarian wired-haired Vizsla. This breed originated in Hungary. It is a very good hunting dog. The wire-haired Vizsla is a descendant of the more common Vizsla. They differ from the Vizsla in their fur. The name of the breed suggests that they have a fur which is wiry in nature. All the other features are similar to their cousins.

They are very strong and agile dogs which have a very good temperament. Since the breed is rare there are very few specimens available. The dog has a muscular body. The poise of the dog is regal and it carries itself with aplomb. The breed is very protective. They need to be trained at an early age to mingle in crowds as later they are very unwilling to obey new orders.

The Wire-haired Vizsla is a very good breed as a family dog. Since they have a background of hunting they need a lot of exercise to keep them active and happy. The dogs need to be taken outdoors regularly. The training has to start from a very young age. The dogs are very intelligent and take to training very well. The hunting instincts are seen even now with them swimming and retrieving things.

The dogs when kept on ranches will chase and hunt down smaller animals whenever they have an opportunity. Hence they need to be disciplined well. The best way is to be gentle and calm. They are very attached to their owners and hang around them whenever they can. The dogs can even sleep with their owners in their beds if they are allowed.

The Wire-haired Vizsla is prone to hip problems. They also suffer from digestive and eating issues. They are also susceptible to eye infections. These are not serious as with the proper care they are very good family pets and guard dogs. These hunting dogs are very good breeds as they are seen very rarely.
