YORKSHIRE TERRIER
The Yorkshire Terrier was used to hunt rats and other small animals, particularly rodents. Originally bred in England, the Yorkshire Terrier species is known to have been the source of many present day Terrier species of dogs.
Accordingly, this species was among the most popular species of dogs in the United States in the year 2005. It is widely accepted, and is also among the most popular dog species in England today. It is also one of the most popular companion dogs in the world. This species is said to be very expensive. From the Yorkshire Terrier species, there arose other types of the Terrier including the Waterside Terrier, the Clydesdale Terrier and the Paisley Terrier. In Scotland, there is the Scottish Terrier. Other Terrier type species of dogs include the West Highland white Terrier, the Maltese Terrier the Cairn Terrier and the Skye Terrier.
Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier is known for its distinctive smooth fur, which is usually a combination of blue and tan, and for its small size. This breed is believed to have originated around the 1800s in Yorkshire, England. These dogs are also called Yorkie, and are usually classified as Toy Terriers. They are used as Toy or companion dogs, and are also popular for dog shows. The Yokshire Terrier has contributed to the rise of other breeds of dogs like the Australian Silky Terrier. It is said that the Yorkshire Terrier came about from cross breeding the Paisley terrier and the Maltese breed. The color of its fur is usually darker on the back and chocolate on the head, legs and chest. They have small ears covered with fur, which are chocolate in color and usually shorter. Its tail was traditionally tied up, but this has been largely halted today, and many have long tails.
YORKSHIRE TERRIER
Originating from Yorkshire, England, this dog was used as a hunter for small animals like rodents. Later on, it became scarce and started to be used as a rare companion and pet. It is small in size, and its puppies are usually black in color, which later changes to a dark steel shade with reddish spots around the head, chest and legs. This dog is known to be affectionate towards the family it lives with, and also very intelligent. It is fearless and openly daring, playful and likes to play with children of whom it can be aggressively protective. It is sensitive and can be depressed if shown no affection or attention. This dog can be stubborn, hostile to strangers and other dogs. However, it can adapt perfectly well in any type of home.
This dog has delicate fur, which requires regular brushing. The fur gives it a unique appeal, and it is very good for dog shows. This Yorkshire Terrier needs regular veterinary attention, particularly because it has sensitive and delicate teeth. It does not need much exercise, and short daily walks are sufficient.
YUGOSLAVIAN HOUNDS
The Yugoslavian Hound is known to originate from the Southern region of former Yugoslavia. This species is commonly known to be in two types, namely the Yugoslavian Mountain Hound and the Yugoslavian Tricolor Hound. This species of dogs is not very well known beyond its native region.
