Old German Shepherd

In the country of Germany, it is said that before the eighteen nineties, any dog that was used for the purpose of herding sheep was referred to as a German shepherd. This however, was before the actual development of the present German shepherds. These dogs were bred and are still in the modern days popular for their working ability and its ability to work very well with other dogs of any breed.
These old German shepherd dogs, quite similar in feature when compared to the present day modern German shepherd dogs, are very well proportioned. These dogs are very strong. These dogs are very sturdy and are equally muscular bunch of dogs. These dogs have a rather elongated type of body, but are quite light in weight compared to its strength and its body. They, even though are light are not to be mistaken to have a weak bone structure, because they have an extremely strong bone structure. Their heads are quite in proportion when compared to the rest of their body. They have a slightly rounded forehead when looked at their shape.
Their nose is most generally and very often and commonly black in color. However, a little of blue or maybe liver colored nose do occur sometimes in a few dogs, this is very rare. This different colored, blue or liver colored, and noses are considered as a fault and are not at all desirable by any breeder and are often tried and hidden. Their teeth always meet to form a very strong and a very powerful scissor bite. When bitten it is very painful. They have a pair of proportional sized eyes. These proportional sized eyes are almond when it comes to their shape and when it comes to their color are dark in color. Their dark colored eyes are never very protruding in nature. Their two ears are very wide in size at their respective bases. They are generally pointed upwards and held erect in nature. These ears are usually slightly turned forward in direction.
They have a very bushy tail. This very bushy tail of theirs hangs down low when the dog is at rest. They have very strong and muscular pair of from legs and their shoulders are also equally strong and muscular. These dogs are also known to have very strong and thick and sturdy thigh muscles. Their legs end to form feet and these feet are round in shape. These round shaped feet are accompanied by a very hard sole. These dogs are generally of three types. One, there is the rough coated German shepherd. Two, there is the long coated and rough coated shepherd dog and then, three there are the just plain long coated German shepherd dogs. These dogs are used as working dogs and they make a very effective one. This effectiveness in work is because they are generally hard working dogs that stay dedicated to the work that they are given and expected to do.
