Tamaskan

This dog is said to have originated from the country if Finland. It was in the early 1980s that the husky was imported into the country of Finland from the United States of America. This imported husky was crossed with other dogs like the Siberian husky, the Alaskan malamute and even a little of the germen shepherd. The main and the primary objective behind crossing these dogs was to create such a dog that would have the appearance of a wolf and along with that the it should have a very high level of intelligence and also very good and an exceptional working ability.

However, recently, for the purpose of improving the blood line, even the other dogs of the husky type of dogs were also involved in this breeding program and the now the pool of the gene has been further extended. Tamaskan breeders now have the permission of mating the tamaskan breed of dogs only with other dogs of the same breed. Gradually, the interests of various kinds of people on these dogs have been increasing. Nowadays, the dogs of this breed are seen in the United Kingdom, the United States of America and even in various countries all over the continent of Europe.

This dog is rather large in size. They are working dogs by nature. This dog also poses a rather athletic type of look. In size they are quite similar to other dogs like the German shepherd. This dog in appearance is similar to that of a wolf. They have the presence of a very thick natured coat. They also have the presence of a straight tail. This straight tail of theirs is also very bushy in nature. Normally they are seen in only two colors. It may be red grey in color or it may be wolf grey in color. They have the presence of rather medium sized eyes. These medium sized eyes are evenly spaced out, that is they are set a normal distance from each other. This medium sized and evenly spaced eyes are usually yellow through amber in color. Sometimes they may even be brown in color however this is very rare and never reported till now.

When this dog is fed properly and taken care of properly and given proper exercise and when they are fully grown into healthy adults, the males have a minimum height of 63 cm and a maximum height of 72 cm and the female dogs of this breed have a minimum of 61 cm and a maximum height of 66 cm. The dogs if this breed usually make a very good house pet, this is mainly due to the fact that the dogs of thus breed are very gentle with all kinds of children and also tend to accept other dogs openly.
